Giving
on Day One

For Sean Hill, and every child like him.

A fund for families who need support, researchers who need funding, and donors who want to close the gap. Built at the founding of a healthcare data company, because giving belongs in the operating memorandum, not the after-action report.

Our Story

SuperTruth co-founder Bobby Hill decided in the hospital room where his son Sean was diagnosed that he would fix this for families like his. The fund is the public form of a commitment he made to himself then.

How a Donor Advised Fund Works

A donor advised fund is a charitable investment account with one purpose: supporting the organizations you care about.

Give

Contribute cash, appreciated securities, mutual funds, or crypto. You receive an immediate tax deduction, even before any grant is made.

Grow

Contributions are invested and grow tax-free inside the fund while you decide where grants should go.

Grant

The fund approves and distributes grants to qualified research organizations and children's hospitals.

Immediate deduction

Cash contributions are deductible up to 60% of adjusted gross income in the year you give, not the year grants are made.

No capital gains tax

Donating appreciated stocks or assets directly eliminates capital gains tax on the appreciation. The full fair market value is deductible.

Tax-free growth

Once inside the fund, your contribution is invested and compounds tax-free, putting more money to work for research and families.

The commitment

The Pledge

SuperTruth has made a public commitment: any revenue the company earns from work involving children's hospitals or pediatric data will flow back into Sean's Friends. The company will not profit from children.

The fund launched on day one of the company's existence, not after the company became profitable enough to spin up a philanthropic arm. The order matters.

Founding Tenet

Most healthcare companies wait until they have the right amount of extra profit to spin up a philanthropic arm. Sean's Friends was established before the money was in the door, because the order matters.

First Grant: CHOP

The first grant from Sean's Friends has been directed to the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, to the NICU and pulmonary research teams that have cared for Sean.

Open by Design

Sean's Friends accepts contributions from any donor and makes grants to any qualified pediatric research organization or family in need. If you are a parent who wants to fund research at the hospital that saved your child, this is a vehicle you can use.

Why This
Fund Exists

The decision to launch Sean's Friends was made privately more than two years ago, in the hospital room where Bobby Hill's son Sean was first diagnosed.

The head of research told Bobby and his wife Casey that most of the dollars funding rare disease research come from parents like them. Parents who are already drowning. The system asks the families with the sickest kids to also be the ones writing the checks that fund the cure. That is not sustainable, and it is not right.

"This is a founding tenet of the company, not a future arm. Most healthcare companies wait until they have the right amount of extra profit to spin up a philanthropic arm that checks a governance box for pharma. We are doing this on day one, before the money is in the door, because the order matters. Giving is the tenet. Profit follows the tenet, not the other way around."

Where the Funds Go

Grants are directed to qualified 501(c)(3) pediatric research organizations and children's hospital systems. The first grant has been directed to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, to the NICU and pulmonary research teams that cared for Sean.

Future grants will support pediatric research, rare disease consortia, and families navigating diagnoses where the cost of getting answers exceeds what most households can carry alone.

Donor advised funds are one-way: contributions flow in, grants flow out to qualified non-profits. No dollars return to SuperTruth.

About the Company

SuperTruth is the proof layer for healthcare AI. The company verifies the quality, consent posture, and provenance of healthcare data without moving the underlying data, through its Data Trust Index methodology.

SuperTruth was co-founded by Bobby Hill and Jason Snyder. Hill and his wife Casey joined the board of Connect Through Cancer six years ago to learn what it actually takes to tie a non-profit to a business model. Sean's Friends is the result.

This Fund
Is For You

If you just got a diagnosis and the financial weight of it is already arriving, write to us. Sean's Friends exists to help families bring their child home, buy the equipment, put food on the table, and get a second opinion.

If you are a researcher or a children's hospital doing the work and losing funding to do it, write to us. This fund grants to the people doing the actual science.

If you want to contribute, or want to set up a fund in your own child's name, we will help you do that too.

"If you are a parent who has lived through a diagnosis and you find yourself in a situation where you could use funds to bring your child home, that is what this DAF is for. If you are a children's hospital or researcher looking for grant funding to simply do your job, that is what this fund is for. On the flip side, if you want to fund research at the hospital that saved your child, this is a vehicle you can use."
